Natural heritage refers to the sum total of the elements of biodiversity, including flora and fauna, ecosystems and geological structures. Heritage is that which is inherited from past generations, maintained in the present, and bestowed to future generations.
The Natural Heritage Project is a group of artists, nationwide, enlisted to create a visual response to the dynamic state managed database entitled, "Natural Heritage Inventory Program (NHI), as part of an international network responsible for maintaining data on the locations and status of rare species, natural communities, and natural features throughout each state.
HOW THE PROJECT WORKS.
The exhibitions are custom designed by professional artists who share an appreciation and general concern toward the vibrancy and diversity of our natural world. Each artist or artist team, chooses their subject based on what matters most to them from their states Natural Heritage Inventory database. Each artist is asked to create a series of original works that inspire action, furthers awareness, and guides individuals of all backgrounds toward making a difference whether big or small.
Our exhibitions are beautiful, fun, interactive, thoughtful, and most importantly, educational. We are committed to creating unique visual experiences that pair well with existing conservation programming.
